In 1869, a Russian chemist Dmitri Mendeleev created the periodic table. The table consists of all the chemical elements that are existing on the Earth. This table is also known as Mendeleev periodic table.

What is a chemical element?

A chemical element is nothing but is a material which cannot be broken down or altered into another substance using chemical means. Each element is identified according to the number of protons it has in its atomic nucleus. There are around ninety-four elements that are found in nature and twenty-four elements are synthetically being produced in laboratories before being found in nature. It is said that they were formed during nuclear reactions that took place in huge stellar explosions of stars called as the supernova. That is during The Big Bang only a few light elements were formed. Stars were formed only when the cosmetic dust and gases from The Big Bang cooled down which then grouped to form galaxies. There are 118 known elements.

The Periodic Table of the Elements sorts all of the known elements in an informative array. Elements are sorted in order of increasing atomic number. The order generally coincides with increasing atomic mass.The Chemistry periodic table has elements present in different rows that are known as periods. The period number of an element is the highest energy level an electron in that element occupies.
